Gulddraken Awards for Best Restaurants

Esperanto- one of the nominees in the luxury category

(EDIT: awards from 2013, click here for 2014) I am back from vacation, feeling rested and ready for the coming season! This is the beginning of the award season for restaurants and first out is the Gulddraken (golden dragon) which is given by the daily newspaper Dagens Nyheter. This award is given to restaurants in different price categories (Luxury, Middle, and Budget), a bar category as well as a special "guest prize" which is awarded by British food critic A.A. Gill. Here are the winners and other nominees in each category:

Luxury- The winner is Frantzén/Lindeberg, one of Stockholm's two 2 star Michelin restaurants. The other nominees were Esperanto and Gastrologik.

Middle- The winner is Ekstedts, where your dinner is cooked over an open fire. The other nominees were Chez Betty and Bar Nombre.

Budget- The winner is Speceriet, run by luxury nominee Gastrologik. The other nominees were Boqueria and Tradition.

Bar- The winner is Tjoget, located in the up-and-coming neighbourhood of Hornstull on Södermalm. The other nominees were 19 Glas and Svartengrens.

A.A. Gill's special award was given to Frantzén/Lindeberg, which also won the prize in the luxury class.
